Anti-Ragging Policy

The institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in accordance with UGC regulations.

1. Introduction

Purpose: To prevent and prohibit ragging in all its forms within and outside the institution.

Compliance: This policy strictly follows the regulations prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

2. Definition of Ragging

  • Physical or mental abuse
  • Indecent behavior
  • Involuntary servitude
  • Financial extortion
  • Any act causing physical or mental harm

3. Prohibition of Ragging

  • Ragging is strictly prohibited within and outside the campus.
  • Applies to all students, staff, and outsiders.

4. Punishments for Ragging

As per UGC regulations, punishments may include:

  • Suspension or expulsion from the institution
  • Withholding scholarships or benefits
  • Debarring from representing the institution
  • Imposing fines

5. Anti-Ragging Cell

Composition:

  • A Senior Faculty Member (Chair)
  • Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Representatives
  • Student Representatives

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prevent and prohibit ragging
  • Address complaints promptly and fairly
  • Educate the community about ill effects of ragging

6. Complaint Handling Procedure

  • Complaints may be made to the Anti-Ragging Cell or authority figures.
  • Complaints will be treated confidentially.
  • The accused will be given an opportunity to respond.
  • The Anti-Ragging Cell will investigate and take necessary action.

7. Preventive Measures

  • Organizing awareness programs
  • Displaying anti-ragging posters and notices
  • Providing counseling services to victims

8. Monitoring and Review

The Anti-Ragging Cell will regularly monitor and review the effectiveness of this policy and update it as necessary to maintain a ragging-free environment.
